In December 2009 Digiweb acquired Smart Telecom. Smart Telecom is a leading Irish provider of voice, data and media services to residential, government and corporate customers. Smart has a national reach and operates the only ‘Next Generation Network’ (‘NGN’) in the country making it Ireland’s fastest broadband provider.
In January 2010, the Digiweb Group acquired Internet Ireland showing the groups commitment to consolidation within the hosting and telecoms markets to deliver increased value, quality products and leading infrastructure to its clients. This acquisition further strengthens Digiweb’s position within the hosting market where it has gained significant market share in recent years.
In April 2010, the Digiweb Group acquired the TalkTalk telephony and broadband subsidiary of the TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC in Ireland and Belgium, adding to the Groups growing customer base. The Group now services 102,000 broadband and telephony customers in the UK, Belgium and Ireland, and employs 160 people across these locations.
