* Digiweb to enter the home and SME telephone market in Q3 2005
* No line rental charges & no need for a landline
* Free calls for life between Digiweb Customers
Digiweb Ltd today announced that it will offer a new alternative telephone service to residential and business wireless customers during the 3rd quarter of 2005. The service will be identical in almost every way to the telephone service used daily in houses and businesses around Ireland except it will have no charge for line rental and all Digiweb customers will be able to call each other for free, day or night.
Customers will be given either a standard telephone number , or one of the newly available “076” numbers which provides for Internet based telephone services.
The cost of line rental in Ireland is amongst the highest in Europe and is causing many new home owners not to take any form of landline service at all. Digiweb’s new service will be offered on the next generation wireless network (Wireless Local loop) which is currently under development and which in no way depends on eircom’s ageing copper “local loop”.
Commenting on the new service, John Quinn, Head of Strategic Development commented “Digiweb is delighted to bring this product to the Irish Market later this year. We will be announcing full details of the service in the coming months. Our product is simple and straightforward, it is exactly the same as the home phone service that people use everyday, without the cost of line rental and with simple and very cost effective charges. We will also offer completely free calls at any time between Digiweb customers”
